Before you hire a moving company, you want to know if its team has the experience and the know-how to accomplish your move without complications. And when choosing a storage facility, you want the assurance that comes with a great reputation. You’ll get all that when you partner with our moving and storage company. Let our history show you how.
Our beginnings can be traced back to one hardworking man who began his career in 1949 as a part-time mover for a small, local moving company. In 1962, that employee, Charles E. Groff, took advantage of a unique opportunity to buy the moving business from the retiring owner. Charles E. Groff Moving & Storage was born.
Charles did all the work himself in the early days, without employees. His dedication to personal service, honesty, and affinity for working directly with customers helped grow the business while supporting his wife and four children.
Charles Groff formed a partnership with his sons Will and Terry and changed the business name to Charles E. Groff & Sons Moving and Storage. There were only a handful of employees and two trucks. The sons dedicated themselves to growing the business and expanding their moving operations.
The brothers continued to work together until their father retired in 1990. Then in 1993, Terry Groff left the business to pursue other interests. Will incorporated the company and took over the role of president.
Charles E. Groff & Sons Moving & Storage had grown from employing five people and using two trucks to having 35 employees and 57 pieces of moving equipment to complete various jobs. The brothers added a storage facility to their list of services and opened a repair shop that handled their fleet maintenance and provided auto service to the general public.
Leslie Brosius purchased Charles E. Groff & Sons Moving & Storage later that year and continues to expand the business to this day, aided by Will Groff, who remains a consultant.
